Mike Missanelli vs. JAKIB Media: Joe Krause Requests Stay of Proceedings Until Mikey Miss Criminal Case Resolves
Brief update here on the court battle between Mike Missanelli and JAKIB Media.
JAKIB founder Joe Krause filed an April motion to stay the proceedings until Missanelli’s criminal case has been resolved.
Back on March 2nd, the judge presiding over the Krause and Missanelli contract dispute ordered that proceedings would continue with a jury trial, scheduling a May 22nd conference for both sides.
However, Missanelli was arrested on April 8th, after allegedly striking his fiance during an argument, leading to a second degree simple assault charge and summary offense harassment charge. A preliminary hearing for the criminal charges was scheduled for April 22nd and has been pushed back to June 24th, according to public court records.
In his motion, Krause writes the following:
“Plaintiff is presently the subject of an active criminal prosecution involving charges of simple assault and harassment. Plaintiff has demonstrated a pattern of aggressive and volatile behavior, including an incident in November of 2024 outside the courthouse in this very matter where he allegedly threatened and confronted Defandant.
The pendency of these fresh criminal charges creates a substantial risk that Plaintiff’s testimony in this civil case will be incomplete, guarded, self-serving, or otherwise affected.
Proceeding with the trial before resolution of the criminal case risks serious prejudice to Defendant, inconsistent or incomplete testimony, and inefficient use of judicial resources.
A temporary stay is therefore warranted.”
The judge has not yet ruled on the motion.
Krause is seeking about $500,000 in damages through counterclaims, saying that he’s incurred “reputational harm, interference with business relationships, and related economic losses impacting Defendant’s media business operations.” Missanelli filed the suit in August of 2024, asserting that he was owed tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid compensation for the work he performed on the JAKIB Media Philadelphia Eagles YouTube shows.
RE: the November 2024 incident that Krause mentions, this is the elevator event that took place in the court building. Both sides have alleged the other was the aggressor, with the 2025 Krause deposition including the following exchange with Mike’s lawyer, Kevin Wright:
Krause: Well I filed a police report because I was attacked by your client.
Wright: Really? He physically struck you?
Krause: He physically lunged out of the elevator.
Wright: I was in the elevator. I kind of remember you lunging at us.
Krause: Look at the video. Did you look at it? I’m sure you haven’t. I have.
When the incident first happened, Krause said in a statement that Missanelli “verbally threatened & attempted to physically attack” him in the courthouse lobby. Missanelli denied that a confrontation took place, writing in a statement that “there was no physical altercation other than his failed, belligerent attempt to get into the elevator with my attorney and myself.“
