The Sixers lost Game 2 in Madison Square Garden, final score 108-102.

They battled without Joel Embiid, taking slim leads into the 3rd and 4th quarters, then ran out of steam and couldn’t get anything to fall:

They shot 4-16 in the fourth and missed some free throws as well. Big bummer. They went almost six full minutes without a made field goal after Kelly Oubre Jr. hit a corner three to put them up 99-96. They were outscored 12-3 the rest of the way and turned the ball over 18 times on the evening.

Tyrese Maxey played 47 minutes and shot 9-23 from the floor. Couldn’t buy a bucket at certain points of this game. Oubre, Paul George, and VJ Edgecombe all had good games but missed late fourth quarter shots that could have helped swing it. They really busted their butts and played a ton of minutes with Embiid being unavailable, so it wasn’t for a lack of effort or energy.

The Sixers had both bigs in foul trouble halfway through the third quarter and got some really nice minutes from Dominick Barlow, but you see what little depth they have coming off the bench beyond Quentin Grimes. It might be nice to have someone like Jared McCain, but that ship has sailed.

Game 3 in Philly on Friday night. Sixers and Flyers both down 0-2 after tough Game 2 losses that they could have / should have won.
