Taking Back Sunday headlined the first show at the new Stateside Live! on Friday night, and it looks like it was pretty rad:

I talked to handful of people who went, and they said it was a good show. Didn’t hear anything negative about the new outside digs or the concert stage or anything. Watching some of the clips on social and YouTube, it sounds like the acoustics were solid enough. Hell yeah brother!

Anyway, there’s a concert list for the summer and into the fall, and the initial wave of shows at the new venue includes:

  • Jordan Mailata Family Foundation Concert – June 11th
  • Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – July 25th
  • Fetty Wap – August 20th
  • Lee Brice – September 17th
  • Knocked Loose – October 2nd

First things first, the Bone Thugs show is on the same day as a Phillies home game against the Yankees. That means they’re gonna have to get Schwarber up on stage for a live performance of the Thuggish Ruggish Bone. Schwarbs can just walk across the street after he goes deep in a 4-2 win against the Yanks. It’s the crossover we need. (EDIT – I appear to be an idiot, it looks like the show is at 1 p.m., so the crossover must happen before the game)

“We’re not against rap. We’re not against rappers. But we are against those thugs.” (a song about the Yankees)

Lee Brice appears to be a country singer and Fetty Wap was on top of the world for a minute back in the mid-teens, if I remember correctly. Trap Queen and all of that.

As for the Mailata show, here’s the description:

Join us for the Mailata Family Foundation Launch Concert in partnership with Miller Lite and SportsRadio 94WIP at Stateside Live! Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro Jordan Mailata and his wife, Niki, have continued to make a meaningful impact off the field by creating opportunities for underserved youth. From helping raise millions through A Philly Special Christmas alongside Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson, to supporting Philly Music Fest and expanding access to music education, the Mailata Family Foundation is committed to helping passionate, driven young people pursue their dreams. We have a rockstar lineup in store for Eagles fans and music lovers alike. Special appearances will include some of your favorite Eagles players, including Saquon Barkley, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Zach Baun, Jordan Davis, and more in support of Jordan and the Foundation. Jordan Mailata will also take the stage for a special live performance on the Coors Light Concert Stage, alongside Goodman-Fiske and Snacktime! One hundred percent of ticket sales will benefit the Mailata Family Foundation, supporting scholarships for underserved youth, community programs, and youth organizations aligned with the Foundation’s mission. You bring the passion. We’ll bring the pathway.

The most intriguing show I think is Knocked Loose. They play that abrasive and contemporary hardcore/metalcore and they have a lot of fans. It’s gonna be complete chaos, just one big pit as far as the eye can see. Stateside may not exist after that show; it could just be a pile of rubble. There’s no hockey schedule out yet, but it’s an October Friday and it’s possible that the Flyers might have a preseason game on the same night as the Knocked Loose gig.

Truly, this is what I pictured when Spectacor built this concert venue. We watch the Flyers beat the shit out of the Capitals, then we walk down to the Coors Light Stage and beat the shit out of each other in the mosh pit. That’s my kind of night!

Philly what the fuck is up?
