Adolis Garcia hit a bomb on Thursday and let everybody know that he’s going to pimp his home runs:

Not Pimp My Ride, which was the MTV show with Xzibit, but Pimp Every Homer, which is a personal philosophy of Garcia, who had a good series against the San Diego Padres. He went 3-10 with a home run, two RBIs, a stolen base, and three strikeouts. He’s batting .300 in the month of June with a 1.000 OPS, and while the sample size is a piddly three games, we are looking for right field positives wherever we can find them. We are taking baby steps.

It should not be lost on anyone that Garcia went down to Citizens Bank Park on Monday, an off-day, to take batting practice. At the time, he was hitting .191, fighting to reach the Mendoza Line while slugging .296 and posting a .571 OPS. He hadn’t logged a hit since May 24th and was looking like Nick Castellanos at the plate. People were calling for Gabriel Rincones Jr., or anybody, really, to take his place.

But he had a nice series against San Diego, and maybe it’s one of those narrative inflection points, kind of like the Phillies record since firing Rob Thomson. Maybe two months from now we’ll be able to say “Adolis Garcia is (stats) since taking BP at CBP on June 1st.”

Looking back to last season, Garcia’s Texas June was a lot better than May. He finished the month in 2025 with a .261 average, 18 RBIs, and a .424 slug. That’s nothing to write home about, but it suggests that maybe he’ll settle in a bit as the weather gets warmer up here. He’s been a defensive upgrade in right field, but the Phillies are winning on the strength of their pitching and someone in the lineup needs to break out.
