Jordan Mailata performed at Stateside Live! on Thursday night. He’s always been super-talented, but this is some of the best singing he’s ever done, in my humble opinion:

In that second clip he’s singing a medley over the beat from Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You. He starts with Baby Boy from Beyonce and Sean Paul. Then he transitions into No Scrubs, No Diggity, and It Wasn’t Me, from TLC, Blackstreet, and Shaggy. Then he goes into Here Comes the Hotstepper, which was from a Jamaican artist name Ini Kamoze back in the 90s. There’s a bit of 50 Cent’s In Da Club in there as well and he nailed all of it.

Honestly, I think Mailata could take this show on the road if he ever dropped a debut solo album. He performed at a 5,000-seat venue last night. He’s done the Christmas albums with the Eagles’ offensive line and cameos with artists like Darius Rucker. He appeared on The Masked Singer back in the day. He could very easily open for bigger pop/county/R&B singer on a string of East Coast dates, or do the Roots picnic, or whatever. He really is that good. I just wonder if it’s too much of a Philly-niche thing, like do people in North Carolina know Jordan Mailata? Probably not, but maybe they should.

Of course, the tour would have to take place in the spring or summer. Fall and winter is pancaking season. It’s good that Jordan is up there performing, but soon he’s gonna have to switch into football mode because guys like Arvell Reese and Brian Burns need flattening.
