I Don’t Think the Guy from the Phillies Karen 2.0 Video Meets the Criteria for “Wrong Game Dickhead”

In litigating the Phillies Karen 2.0 situation of Monday night, I’ve come across some comments accusing Eagles jersey guy of being a “wrong game dickhead” –

I’m not sure when or where “wrong game dickhead” began. It’s always been something that people have talked about and thought about, the concept of going to a sporting event and wearing the apparel of a team that isn’t even playing. But it’s taken off over the past year or two, and there are social media accounts dedicated to pointing out when someone is, indeed, a “wrong game dickhead.”

In this case, I don’t think Cooper DeJean jersey is a wrong game dickhead. I just don’t see any problem with someone wearing Philadelphia sports gear to a Philadelphia sporting event. I’m sure there’s some lingering animosity from Phillies fans who are annoyed with the Eagles chants at baseball games. Some folks suffer from Eagles fatigue. But all this guy is doing is sitting in the outfield stands and being a softy by giving back a baseball he fairly caught.

Now, if he was wearing an Ohio State or LA Lakers jersey, then yeah, he is a wrong game dickhead. A total crumb bum, and probably a poser as well. In that case he should be booooooooooed like the non-Phillies that took part in last week’s Home Run Derby.

The thing that’s more bothersome is mismatching team apparel. You can’t be wearing a Penn State shirt and Phillies hat. Or an Eagles jersey and a Temple hat. It’s too much. Just pick one team and be consistent.

Of course, none of this really matters. People are going to wear what they want to wear, and others will judge them for it. White boomer women have perfected the latter.
