Jovial Vic Fangio Starts Press Conference with a Dr. Fauci Joke
Vic Fangio was feeling loose at his first press conference of training camp. He opened by greeting some of the scribes, said hello to Merrill Reese, and then dropped a Dr. Fauci joke:
“I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the 5th Amendment on all the questions. Did you guys see that? Oh my God! What was the question?”
Heyo!
Fangio is feeling pretty good at the start of camp. He’s affable and loose. He’s telling jokes and having a laugh. And he should feel good because last year he coordinated one of the NFL’s best defenses, a unit that allowed just 19.1 points and 314 yards per game. The defense pretty much won the Green Bay, Detroit, and Buffalo games. He lost Reed Blankenship, Nakobe Dean, and Jaelan Phillips but he still has Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Zack Baun, Jordan Davis, and Jalen Carter. He’s got Riq Woolen in the secondary and Moro Ojomo at DT3. He’s got A.J. Epenesa, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and Arnold Ebiketie in the mix. The only questions marks seem to be at safety and LB2, at least on paper.
You feel pretty good about the Birds’ defense. You always do when Vic Fangio is coordinating it.
EDIT – can’t believe I missed a second Fauci joke later in the presser:
