RADIO WARS: Jon Marks and Andrew Salciunas are Looking for a Producer

It was announced on Tuesday that Jon Marks will replace John Kincade and work with Andrew Salciunas on 97.5 the Fanatic’s morning show.
Now the pair are looking for a producer:
“We’re looking for our morning show producer. This is a full-time job and we’re casting a wide net… We have a lot of great internal candidates at the Fanatic who may fill the position, but we’re looking for the next star. I’m looking for my next Jack Fritz. We’re looking for our next Ray Dunne.”
Alright, so Kincade goes back to Atlanta, Beasley recoups his salary, and Marks moves into a different time slot. Now they’re going to hire a producer and pay that person peanuts at a significant cost savings while leaving middays with Sean Brace and Dunne. Splitting up Marks, Brace, and Dunne feels like a mistake, but maybe you see it differently.
Morning media is rough. Terrible hours. But that’s kind of how it goes if you want to work full-time in sports, especially in terrestrial radio in 2026. If you’re a young kid coming out of school, then opportunity functions as currency for the first few years of your career. That’s what I tell the college students who are unfortunate enough to listen to me at a speaking engagement.
The alternative is going solo and trying to become an influencer or a YouTuber. If successful, you can be one of the 47 people at the MLB All-Star Game asking Kyle Schwarber if a hot dog is a sandwich. #Content!
