We spent this entire offseason listening to insufferable Patriots fans tell us that A.J. Brown would finally have a real quarterback throwing him the ball. Give me a break! Maye was terrible in Seattle, going 23-33 for 178 yards, one TD, and the three interceptions. He took three sacks for 10 yards and finished with a 54.9 rating and 5.4 yards per completion average. Throw in 7 carries for 47 yards on the ground.
The game-ending pick was one of the worst passes you will ever see, thrown off his back foot to Mack Hollins, who couldn’t even play DB on Josh Jobe and get in position to knock the ball down. Maye could have thrown the ball out of play there, the Pats kick the field goal, and the game goes to overtime.

The Patriots win that game with Jalen Hurts at quarterback. He’s not underthrowing A.J. Brown on a flea flicker. He’s not getting picked off on another deep sideline toss. He’s not throwing that pass on third down at the end of the game. He would have outdueled Drew fucking Lock and found a way to win. That’s what he does.
The Patriots play Pittsburgh at home before taking road trips to Jacksonville and Buffalo. A.J. was seen wearing a walking boot after the injury. They may start 1-3.
