The Phillies and Union Have a Combined .700 Win Percentage Since August 1st

Two more wins for the Phils and the U, who beat Houston 11-7 and Cincinnati 5-0 at home on Wednesday night, respectively.
Both teams have been on a tear since the calendar flipped to August.
The Phillies have 30 wins while the Union haven’t lost a game, which breaks down like this:
- Phils: 25-11, seven series wins, three series losses, one series split, 0.694 win percentage
- Union: 5-0-2, 17 goals for, 8 goals against, .714 win percentage (not including the useless and pointless Leagues Cup that they didn’t care about)
The U are actually unbeaten since the World Cup break, which goes back to July 22nd. They’re 7-0-2 since Spain beat Argentina at “New York / New Jersey Stadium.” But the Phils didn’t get hot until August, so we move up the arbitrary date for this arbitrary statistic.
But the bottom line is that both summer teams have been on fire for more than a month now. It’s a combined .697 win percentage, basically .700. The Phillies are three games behind the Braves but lead the Wild Card race by a couple of games after the Cubs were swept by the Brewers. Atlanta lost two in a row against Tampa and now there’s another shot to gain some ground this coming weekend.
The Union were dead last in all of Major League Soccer at one point, fired Bradley Carnell, and are now above the playoff line. They’re in a clump of seven teams separated by four points, but if the season ended today they would host NYC FC in the Wild Card game.
