We’re Claiming the Waterdogs’ Premier Lacrosse League Title as a Philadelphia Championship

Looks like they totally thumped this Denver squad. Wasn’t even close.
Now let’s see… does this team even play in Philadelphia? Apparently they do not. They do a tour-based model in the Premier Lacrosse League, so there’s not even a home venue for the Wooderdogs.
They did, however, come to Philadelphia this season, and played two games at Subaru Park back in August, which they won 18-10 and 11-9.
The Dogs are a fucking wagon!
They went 9-3 in the regular season and then beat the Boston Cannons and Denver Outlaws in the playoffs, so they went 11-3 en route to the title this year. They were led by a guy named Michael Sowers, who had 29 goals and 22 assists. Sowers is a Montco native who went to Upper Dublin High School and played college lacrosse for Duke. They also have a midfielder named Dox Aitken, who went to Haverford School and Villanova and played lax at UVA.
Honestly, it looks like they were kind of stacked this year? They have guys on this roster who played college lacrosse for Cornell, Duke, Virginia, Denver, Notre Dame, and Princeton. Were we sleeping on the Dogs this entire season?
Either way, I think this counts as a Philadelphia title because one of their best players is a Dresher kid and this other guy is local as well. They went 2-0 in the Philadelphia region this year. Let’s get the Dogs out to an Eagles game and give them an opportunity to get a nice round of applause and some recognition.
