The Eagles lost to the Jaguars 19-17 on Sunday after leading 17-16 with :08 left in the game. They blew it, full-stop, and Nick Sirianni knows whose fault it was:

REPORTER: “The decision not to kick the ball out of bounds in the end, can you take us through your thought process there?”

SIRIANNI: “You know, our guys fought their butts off today. Defense had an outstanding game, keeping us in that game. Offense did enough at the end to go win us that game. Special teams did a nice job kicking there. You know, I didn’t make the right decision, and I lost us that game. And that’s what I said to our guys, um, and, and, what hurts there is that, you know, the guys fought so hard, and then I don’t make the decision that, uh, you know, that I should make at the end of the game, and I cost us that game, and I put that fully on me… It hurts because, in the sense of the guys fought their ass off. And, you know, had a chance to win the game. And then for me to not make the right decision in that, you feel like you let everyone down. It’s just like you would feel if you missed a free throw at the end of the game, or if you had a drop. I’ve been in both of those places. Um, and, those ones stick with you, and that will stick with me for a long time. All I know is that I’ll work my butt off to get better from it. Um, but yeah, that one will hurt for a long time. I still think about those other things that have lost games for us in the past, as far as, you know, when I played. Um, a long time ago. So, yeah, that’s gonna hurt for a while, um, but I’m gonna put my chest out and stick my head up and I’m gonna get better from it. I’m gonna own it. Um, and move forward.”

I guess it’s nice that Nick is openly admitting he botched this game, but it doesn’t make me feel any better. Him owning it doesn’t change anything. The Eagles still gave this game away, they’ve still lost three straight, and they’re still 2-3 on the season.

It’s good to be accountable up to a point, but I think we’re past that point. Hearing Nick sadly talk about how he made the wrong call and will get better from this and hold his head up high and all that melodramatic shit makes this whole thing even more irritating. Enough with this guy and his bad coaching. All he does is find new and innovative ways to lose games the Eagles should win. Let’s move on already.

It’d be one thing if Nick’s bonehead mistake was an isolated incident, but it’s not. This is very clearly a trend. His decision making cost the Eagles against the Bears. It cost them against the Rams. And on Sunday, it cost them against the Jaguars. So far in 2026, bad coaching has been the thread running through every Birds loss. Can’t help but wonder wonder how much more of these coaching-inflicted-wounds Jeffrey Lurie will be content to watch.
