Adam Joseph Teases Big Announcement, Possible Retirement

Adam Joseph, longtime meteorologist for Action News, posted this earlier today on X:
Is Adam Joseph retiring? Sure feels like he’s retiring. The “I’ve been blessed for more than 27 years to work in a profession I believe I was born to do” sentence certainly seems like a retirement sentence. Also the memory lane part. Hard to imagine what else “memory lane” could be leading up to. Memory lane talk seems like retirement talk.
If this is indeed a retirement announcement, it marks the end of an era. Adam Joseph joined the Action News AccuWeather Team way back in 2005, which makes him one of the longer-tenured news broadcasters in the city. He’s currently a senior meteorologist on Action News every weekday at 4 pm and 5:30 pm, then covers Action News at 10 pm on PHL 17. In short, he’s on TV a lot and has been for a long time. And I thought he’d continue to be. After Cecily Tynan’s retirement in September, Adam seemed to be primed to become the main weather person at the station.
Which has me wondering… maybe this isn’t a retirement. Maybe Adam is getting a promotion. Maybe he’s taking over as Chief Meteorologist now that Cecily is gone. Feels like that would make more sense, right? It’s tough to imagine 6ABC allowing their two tent-pole meteorologists to leave back-to-back in less than two months. That’d be brutal.
My guess is promotion. I think Adam’s trying to get us with a retirement misdirect here. It’s a good misdirect, but a misdirect nonetheless. That’s my final answer. I’ll be tuning in tonight at 6 pm to see if I’m right.
