What Would You Rather Do on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve – Watch the Eagles or Spend Time With Your Family?

It’s a good question, isn’t it? Saw Colarulo joking about it:

Sadly, they can’t flex out of a day entirely. The Eagles have to play the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving and the Houston Texans on Christmas Eve. In a perfect world, they’d flex this season to the moon and the Birds wouldn’t play another snap. Then our sanity would be restored.

Anyhow, these will be two more losses because they’re not winning another game the rest of the season. Not after what we saw last night. Sure, they’ll get DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks back healthy, but Tanner McKee will be throwing them the ball, assuming he doesn’t have three defenders in the face. The offensive line is no good, the defense is pretty much done with this season, and the coaches don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Kellen Moore and Jeff Stoutland ain’t walking through that door. Vic Fangio is probably thinking about baseball and retirement. That’s the saddest part about all of this, that even if they were 100% healthy and had Jalen Hurts running around out there, they’d be running stupid plays inside of a stupid scheme.

What’s rough now is that we had a built-in excuse to avoid our families on two holidays –

“Sorry, I can’t sit at the dining room table for Thanksgiving dinner, and listen to you talk about how shitty your job is. I have to be in the basement watching the Eagles.”

And –

“Sorry, I would love to go Christmas Eve mass with everyone, but I have to watch the Eagles play the Texans.”

Now what? Your family knows the Eagles suck. They know you can’t use the games as an excuse any longer. Your wife may even try to drag you out to Linvilla this Sunday, before the bye game. She knows you don’t REALLY want to watch the Birds vs. the Giants in an NFC East slopfest. You gotta come up with something, and soon.

Wait… I’ve got the answer.

“Sorry babe, I’m unavailable on the next two Sundays because the Sixers are playing” –
