Burger King Howard Eskin Gives Sad Explanation After Stealing Video from an Actual Reporter
Saw this on the timeline. Looks like Burger King is reposting other people’s video:

There was another clip earlier that Eskin also lifted from E.J. Smith. When asked where he got the video, Burger King said, “was sent to me,” which is hilarious no matter what. Either Eskin is straight up lying or there is some idiot out there ripping E.J.’s video from social media and sending it to Howard. Why anybody would do that, I don’t know.
Howard, of course, is no longer at Eagles, Phillies, or Sixers games/practices. He hasn’t been credentialed since he was dumped by 94 WIP almost two years ago after his suspension from Citizens Bank Park.
Furthermore, this is the easiest litigation of all time. Howard’s explanation is incorrect. A media “scrub” is indeed available to everyone, but you have to actually show up and ask questions and shoot your own video and collect your own sound. You can’t just sit around at home and take other people’s material and reproduce it on your own Twitter feed. In a case like this one, all he has to do is quote tweet E.J.’s video and write his comment in the box. It’s the most basic of industry standards. Just credit the source of a video clip and/or share the original media if possible. But he’s passing it off as if he himself shot the video, and was in the building, which he was not. And he’s denying the media impressions and profile visits to the guy who actually did the legwork.
The only gray area for scrums is when the teams shoot the video themselves. They’ll post it on their socials or their YouTube or provide clips to the media, usually in a Dropbox type of shared folder. In that case, approved outlets are more or less clear to use the media and the quotes how they like, it’s just understood that you credit the team for what they’ve provided.
