Gord Murphy Joins Flyers Coaching Staff, as Predicted

Well, it looks like Kyle’s prediction was off by a few months, but it’s still true: As you may recall, when Kevin Dineen and Gord Murphy were fired by the Florida Panthers, Kyle said:

“Email I’ll get three weeks from now: Flyers GM Ron Hextall has issued the following statement: The Flyers have promoted Phantoms head coach and former Flyer head coach Terry Murray to be the 19th head coach in Flyers history. Joining Murray behind the bench will be former Flyers Kevin Dineen and Gord Murphy, and former Flyer head coach Craig Ramsay (Rammer, as we call him around here).”

That was back in November, so maybe not the greatest predictive skills, but we did just hear this:

“After moving to a number of different franchises throughout hockey, Gord Murphy is returning to the place where his career began.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall announced on Wednesday that Murphy has been hired as an assistant coach to serve under Craig Berube.”

Murphy replaces the now-unemployed John Paddock, and if anyone else is in need of partially accurate and not at all timely future predictions, Kyle will be back around next week.
