Draft Rumor Mill Continues to Roll on, Says Sixers May Try to Get Another Top-Ten Pick

Slipped into the last graf of this Yahoo Sports piece about Embiid’s now draft-shattering injury, is this remarkable tidbit:

“Philadelphia has been intrigued with the possibility of drafting a point guard with one of its picks in the draft, closely studying Dante Exum and Marcus Smart, sources said. Smart wouldn’t be selected with Philly’s third overall pick, sources said, but Exum does become a candidate for the Sixers at No. 3. Philadelphia has had discussions with teams about gathering an additional pick between its two current choices at No. 3 and No. 10.”

If that has any truth to it at all, that would seem to point towards another large, unsubstantiated rumor: The one that says the Sixers are trying to trade Michael Carter-Williams. And maybe a package deal of MCW, Thad, and a meaningless second round (or future first) pick could get a deal like that done. These next seven days are lining up to be absolute mayhem. It’ll be like Christmas morning but with a chance that every toy your parents got you might break or not be nearly as great as you thought it’d be.
