Man Machine Pat Burrell and New York Met Bobby Abreu Showed Up to Honor Jimmy Rollins

Last night, the Phillies and Jimmy Rollins celebrated Jimmy Rollins becoming the team’s all-time hits leader. The pre-game ceremony was, of course, filled – FilleD! – with Dan Baker misplaced inflections, melodramatic music, Chase Utley being awkward, and a print. On hand was a random grab bag of Phillies from yesteryear: Marlon Anderson, Mike Lieberthal, Larry Bowa, Pat Burrell, Pat Burrell’s purple shirt, and Bobby Abreu.
The video is after the jump, but two items of note first:
1) Pat Burrell looked like the legend that he is and Twitter was abuzz:
2) Current Met Bobby Abreu, a current Met, who does not give one fuck about much, wore a Phillies jersey, despite being a current Met. This is… odd, and I wouldn’t blame Mets fans for being all sorts of pissed off. Strangely, MLB.com edited out Abreu’s introduction in the video of the pre-game ceremony, which you can find after the jump.
Here’s a link if the video doesn’t play because MLB’s video player is the worst thing on this planet next to, maybe, Assad gassing his own people.
