When Nick Foles went down with his clavicle injury and Mark Sanchez came in playing like someone who is not named Mark Sanchez, there was a lot of talk about “riding the hot hand.” At yesterday’s pre-game tailgate, there were a lot of overheard conversations that went something like this:

“If we win today and then beat Dallas, and Foles is ready after Dallas, what do we do?”

“You gotta ride Sanchez. He’s got the hot hand.”

Well, after a game in which Sanchez’s hand was as cold as anyone who had been at that tailgate for a few hours, the situation is even more muddled. Sanchez hasn’t really been a marked improvement over the way Foles played, and with Foles being re-evaluated after the Dallas game next week (per Jay Glazer), Chip Kelly’s decision may have gotten harder (or easier in Chip’s mind, depending on which way he was leaning), but it certainly became more important.
