Jason Richardson, the Sixers’ only real veteran presence in the Sam Hinkie era, has decided to retire. Richardson came over in the disastrous Andrew Bynum trade, and played only 52 games for the Sixers, missing the entire 2013-2014 season.

Surrounded by untested younglings, Richardson was a wise – if old and creaky – Jedi master who was able to likely do more for the young players off the court than on. He left the Sixers this offseason as the last pre-Hinkie vestige on the Sixers, and signed a one-year deal with the Hawks that was non-guaranteed. He will not play on that contract. In his time with the Sixers he averaged 10 points per game (17.1 for his career), and was a 37% three-point shooter over his 14 seasons.

He’ll be most remembered as a two-time NBA dunk champion and the guy on the jersey you got for $5 at the Sixers’ merch blowout.
