Pete Mackanin Got a New Contract

Just Nova and Papa Petey all day: The Phillies have signed manager Pete Mackanin to a new two-year deal with a club option for the 2018 season. Mackanin’s contract was set to expire at the end of this year (with a club option in 2017), and GM Matt Klentak likely didn’t want to start his rebuild with leadership from a lame-duck manager, or at least one with an uncertain future.
