Just a few hours before roster cuts have to be made to knock the cast down to 15, the Sixers announced they’ve signed Dionte Christmas. The 30-year old guard last played for Torku Konyaspor Basket of the Turkish Basketball Super League and last played in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns in 2013-2014. It’s technically his second tenure with the Sixers, where he was signed out of Summer League in 2009 and then cut less than a month later.

Christmas is unlikely to make the Sixers roster, but could end up with the Delaware 87ers as an affiliate player.

By signing Christmas and then cutting him by the 5 p.m. deadline, the Sixers give their D-League club first dibs at acquiring Christmas for their roster, though he’ll remain an NBA free agent.

UPDATE: And he was waived.
