As we tweeted earlier (then removed because it wasn't official), Villanova's Taylor King has withdrawn from the team for a "violation of team rules", according to ESPN.com's Dana O'Neill (who was previously a Villanova beat reporter for the Daily News).

King, who was benched during Villanova's final regular season game for what Jay Wright called a "teaching point", will remain at Villanova to complete his degree.

Here's what we are hearing:

(For the record, I'm a Villanova Alum)

King has been widely rumored to have a substance abuse problem, and this appears to be related to his removal from the team.  He transferred to Villanova from Duke before the 2008-2009 season, and sat out a year before contributing 7.4 PPG and 5.4 RPG in 2009-2010.
