The Guy Who Got The Philly Special Tattoo Used My Drawing That I Scribbled On a Sheet of Paper Late Sunday Night
This is fun.
Dan Morgan has made all the media rounds after his tattoo of Philly Special went around the interwebs yesterday. He was even on FOX Good Day this morning. And while any diagram of the play will certainly look similar, I noticed that Dan’s tattoo looked exactly like the design on our t-shirt, which I first scribbled on the back of a sheet of paper.
I had posed the idea to one of our designers, and they asked me to provide them with a hand drawn sketch that they could turn into artwork. So, I pulled up the play on my phone, sitting on my couch, and drew this sometime in the early morning hours on Monday:
Fast-forward to the morning (still), and I sent it to another designer who had time to put it together, and it becomes our hot-selling shirt:
A few hours later, it’s on Dan’s arm.
I actually know Dan and his girlfriend (wife?) Nancy– we helped promote a trip they organized to Nationals Park a few years ago, so I asked him if it was based on our design. It is:
