Brett Brown Negated Any Argument About Not Signing A Big Name Free Agent

Brett Brown and Bryan Colangelo spoke to the assembled media today. Kevin will have more on both later, but for now it’s worth calling out Brown’s response to a question Kevin asked regarding fans who want to win organically and those who want the Sixers to make a big splash in free agency:
“If that portion of the fan base [who accepted the process] is still prepared to take this notion and that’s gonna equal a championship, you know, it’s noble, but I don’t agree with it. I think that a other high-level free agent is required. I feel like we have the ability to attract one. If I were a free agent, and of course I’m biased [I’d want to come here]. And so at some point, when the time is right, I think we need help to win a championship.”
So, count Brett Brown as being firmly on record that he wants to go out and get a big-name free agent. And they say we don’t do real journalism around here.
