BetStars NJ’s iOS App Is Expected To Launch on October 14

As you know, we’re big fans of the BetStars NJ sports betting app. Why? It is the most compelling of the non-big-brand-sites– DraftKings and FanDuel.

BetStars, which is owned by Canadian company The Stars Group and has had a lot of success in Europe, is a mobile-first product built on the PokerStars platform. They brought their sports betting app to the US last month on Android, but App Store hold ups and other apparent delays have pushed the iOS app release back to this weekend. Previously, the BetStars sportsbook was available inside the PokerStars app on iOS.

Representatives from the company tell us that the iOS app is due to launch on October 14, with their web-based interface on schedule for November 1.

This would be the first international sportsbook to offer an iOS app. 888sport appeared to be in a similar iOS delay, and we have no word on when their app will go live on iPhone or iPad.

PointsBet, an Australian company, has partnered with casinos in New Jersey and New York, but they are not live yet.

William Hill, though technically a British company, has a US arm and has launched its iOS app.

According to Google Trends data, BetStars has lagged behind DraftKings and FanDuel in terms of interest, for the obvious reason of not having anywhere near the same level of brand recognition. At least not yet. They have held off on their marketing push until the iOS app arrives.

 

A modern betting app

BetStars is the best of the international brands competing in the US betting space. First and foremost, they offer a user-friendly app. It lacks the slick interface of FanDuel and the familiarly of DraftKings, but it’s clean and simple and just works. The learning curve is very low.

 

Strong promotions

One of the things we’re seeing from the legal sportbooks so far is the ability to offer unique promos and bets during this acquisition phase. In additional to traditional signup bonuses and deposit matches, which we’ve detailed on our NJ online sports betting page, many of the operators have been offering unique bets, guarantees, and odds boosts.

Out of the gate, BetStars offers all three.

While their 500-1 Super Bowl odds promo ended on September 30, they still offer $500 in free bets as their signup bonus.

Currently, they are also running a series of boosts and promos.

Overall, these are just really fun options. I wouldn’t recommend basing your entire strategy on any promo offer, however they can add a casual element to the betting experience, while also occasionally being a good strategic play.

 

So while BetStars has been slow on the uptick, they are worth checking out, both for the user-friendly interface and the range of fun promos and options they offer for casual and experienced bettors. You can download both the Android and iOS apps by clicking bet now.
