The Eagles could still end up taking a defensive tackle in tonight’s first round of the NFL Draft, but the team’s obvious lack of depth at the position just received a significant reinforcement with the re-signing of defensive tackle Tim Jernigan on a one-year deal:

Beautiful.
The Eagles released Jernigan back in early March, declining his $11 million option and saving approximately $7 million on the 2019 salary cap, after he missed all but five games of the 2018 season thanks to offseason back surgery, but the door for a return was left open. Now, the Eagles will bring back a key member of Jim Schwartz’s unit as a depth piece at defensive tackle to go along with Fletcher Cox and the newly-signed Malik Jackson. Not a bad trio. Not bad at all.
