Never one to be dramatic or controversial, Terrell Owens revealed a while back that wouldn’t participate in the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton next month.

Instead, he’ll do it his own way, announcing today that he’ll give a speech at UT-Chattanooga, his alma mater, on August 4th:

I didn’t get the 3:17 p.m. thing when I read this, but “Coach Culler” apparently has an explanation here:

Owens got into the Hall of Fame on his third attempt this year. He previously said that he didn’t really care if he got in or not.

This was his explanation for not attending the induction ceremony:

“While I am incredibly appreciative of this opportunity, I have made the decision to publicly decline my invitation to attend the induction ceremony in Canton. I have already shared this information with the Hall. After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere. At a later date, I will announce where and when I will celebrate my induction.”

Time’s yours.
