Report: Joe Girardi “Favorite” For the Phillies Job

Let’s get it back to the Phillies.
Joe Girardi reportedly interviewed again with the Phils today, according to Jim Salisbury at NBC Sports Philadelphia:
On Monday, the club will host Joe Girardi at Citizens Bank Park in a second interview for the team’s open manager’s job.
Girardi met with team officials last Monday in the New York metropolitan area. He is the third candidate to receive a second interview for the position. Dusty Baker and Buck Showalter visited Philadelphia for second interviews on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
David Kaplan, of ESPN 1000 in Chicago went as far to call Girardi the “clear favorite” for the gig:
Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi is in Philadelphia today for a second meeting with Phillies management. He is the clear favorite for that job as the Phillies are all in to try to win in 2020.

The Philly front office likes Showalter from Baltimore dats. But belief is owner John Middleton — who made the Kapler call — is leaning toward Joe Girardi. Girardi likely has good feel he’s getting something since he left team USA. @thekapman suggested Phils job is Joe’s to lose.

Hear Mets will not be rushed no matter where other searches stand. Philly seems further along, and Girardi has decent chance there — but word is an offer to anyone from another team won’t speed up the Mets’ process. Reportedly Beltran, Perez Bogar also still in Mets mix
