The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released its May 2025 revenue report, and, well, the Garden State’s gaming industry is doing just fine. Actually, better than fine—try record-setting.

$614.7 Million. That’s how much total gaming revenue New Jersey pulled in this May. That’s a 20.5% jump from May 2024. Let that sink in for a second. Nearly $615 million in one month. If you think people are cutting back on gambling, these numbers say otherwise.

NJ Gaming Revenue: Atlantic City Brick-and-Mortar Casinos 2025

Let’s start with Atlantic City’s physical casino floors—the slot machines, the blackjack tables, the roulette wheels. They brought in $265.3 million, up nearly 11% from last year. That’s the best in-person month AC has seen in 2025 so far. And it makes sense. The weather’s better, there was an extra Saturday in the month, and people want to get out and actually touch the chips.

James Plousis from the NJ Casino Control Commission said May “provided a strong foundation for positive momentum during the summer season.”

The heavy hitters were the usual suspects: Borgata led with $73.1 million, followed by Hard Rock at $51.9 million and Ocean at $42.3 million. Ocean, by the way, is on a heater—up over 32% year-over-year. Not bad for a property that was once fighting for relevance.

NJ Online Casinos Are Still Printing Money

NJ online casinos continue to be the MVP for New Jersey. May set a new monthly record for online casino revenue: $246.8 million. That’s a 28.5% increase over last May and a new all-time high, even topping the big March surge. Whether it’s NJ online slots, live dealer blackjack, or chasing free spins at 1 a.m., people are hammering these apps.

Sports Betting Is Back in a Big Way

Sports betting didn’t just hold its own—it came in swinging. Revenue hit $102.5 million for May, a 30.2% jump from last year. Handle hit the billion-dollar mark again, up over 20%. That means people aren’t just betting—they’re betting big. NBA playoffs, early MLB action, maybe even some folks still riding hockey futures. Either way, the books cleaned up.

NJ Gaming Revenue Year-to-Date: NJ Online Casino & Sports Betting Numbers

Let’s break it down:

  • Total gaming revenue for 2025 so far: $2.74 billion, up 6.6%
  • Casino floor wins: $1.12 billion
  • Internet gaming: $1.16 billion, up over 22%
  • Sports betting gross revenue: $460.2 million (actually down a bit, but May helped)
  • Taxes collected from gaming in May alone: $66.8 million

So yeah, the state’s budget writers are probably smiling.

What About Online Gaming in PA?

Pennsylvania online gaming in May 2025 likely kept its foot on the gas. While the official PGCB numbers haven’t dropped yet, all signs point to another record-setting month. April already saw PA online casino revenue hit $227.7 million, up over 30% year-over-year, and the total across online slots, tables, and poker came in just shy of an all-time high at $285 million. That momentum didn’t slow down.

May was the first full month with Pennsylvania part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement, meaning online poker players could finally compete across state lines with New Jersey and Michigan. That alone should give poker a meaningful boost beyond April’s $2.3 million mark.

Based on early Q2 trends and analyst expectations, May likely surpassed April’s totals, pushing Pennsylvania’s iGaming revenue past $1.4 billion year-to-date and keeping the state on track for a $3.3 billion annual haul. So basically, May was another massive month for PA online casinos—steady demand, expanded poker, and no signs of a summer slowdown.

Summer Gambling in NJ Continues to Heat Up

May 2025 was a banner month for New Jersey gaming. Casino floors are seeing real traffic. Online platforms are breaking records. Sportsbooks are crushing it. And the state is getting paid. Whether you’re rolling dice in AC or betting from your phone at home, you’re part of this ecosystem… and it’s booming.

We’ll keep an eye on June, but unless something wild happens, expect more records, more tax dollars, and more excuses to gamble responsibly. Or not. Your call.
