There are a ton of A.J. Brown nuggets coming out of the NFL Combine, naturally. It would be masochistic to sift through all of the quotes and reports and look for some magical smoking gun that’s being hidden between the lines, but when it comes to Howie Roseman, he’s been really consistent with this message:

“We’re in the business of keeping great players, and A.J. is a great player. A.J. is a difference-making player for our team. He’s been on our team four years, we’ve been to the playoffs all four of those years. Won a Super Bowl, been in two Super Bowls, and he’s a captain on our team. You’re not looking to get rid of players like that… at the same time, our job as GMs, we gotta listen on anyone, and that doesn’t have anything to do with A.J. If anyone calls me and says ‘hey I want to talk to you about a player,’ for me, just to say unequivocally, ‘I’m not taking your call,’ that doesn’t make sense because I don’t know what they’re going to say on the other end. Now, the chances I’m doing that with a great player? They’re not very high.”

You keep an eye on the prediction markets to get an idea of where the chatter is leading.

It’s not leading anywhere, really.

At Kalshi, the Baltimore Ravens have entered the playing field with a 37% chance to land A.J. in a trade, while the Patriots are third at 24%. That New England connection has been there for years, because A.J. played for Mike Vrabel in Tennessee.

However, the number for “stay with Philadelphia or retires” has actually increased to 67%, which was all the way down in the 40% range at the beginning of the week, when the festivities were getting under way in Indy and the coaches and GMs started doing their media tours:

Do with this information what you will. The trends are interesting and there’s value here if your gut is telling you something, one way or another.
