After Googling “Jakorian Bennett,” it’s Clear that Howie Roseman Made Another Great Trade

A 9 p.m. Monday night trade in August:

Booker was a depth tackle who flashed in some limited opportunities last season, but he was not going to play a ton of snaps in 2025. He was the fifth DT in the rotation behind Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, and Moro Ojomo, and the Birds obviously feel good returning three of those four players.

Now, to Jakorian Bennett, who played 461 snaps for a 4-13 Raiders team last year. Hadn’t heard of the guy until 12 hours ago, and neither did most Eagles fans, judging by the reactions online. He’s a 24 year old fourth rounder who came out of Maryland a few years ago. Looks like he started in community college before making his way to the Terps, so a late bloomer, relatively. Turns out the guy had really numbers in a sample size that amounts to about 40% of the Raiders’ 2025 defensive snaps:

Going back through the NFL Combine numbers, it looks like he tested well. Ran a 4.30 40-yard dash and has some athleticism, just seems a little small for a corner. He’s about at 5’11”, 190 pounds, and Raiders fans on Reddit are saying he’s not big enough for a Pete Carroll defense, which would explain the trade from their end.

Naturally, you’d think the Eagles trading for a corner would be an indictment on Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson, who are in the mix for the CB2 spot vacated by Big Play Slay, so we’ll what happens here. Looks like one of those things where the Eagles saw an opportunity to trade for a still-young guy who wasn’t going to have a role in a new system, run by a new coaching staff. So they ship out a depth DT and both guys likely benefit from the change.
