Avonte Maddox is Back with the Birds

It’s like he never left:

Maddox was let go in March. He was set to earn a little less than $7 million and became a cap casualty. He had injury issues and couldn’t stay on the field, but was head and shoulders above the other slot corner options when healthy. What? Are you pining for Mario Goodrich in the slot? Josiah Scott? Bradley Roby? Sydney Brown? JAMES BRADBERRY?

Maddox played 16 games in 2021, nine in 2022, and only four last year. He’s really struggled to stay out there, but he’s still only 28 years old and the team obviously really likes him. Here’s a live look at him entering and leaving free agency:
