Big Carm Calls a Wednesday Press Conference to Discuss Eagles Tailgating Changes

We mentioned last week on the site that changes are coming to the Eagles tailgating scene. It was something that had been previously mentioned by a handful of people, among them Big Carm and Philly Captain, who noted that hand parking is coming to the lots, along with new restrictions on oversized vehicles.

In the meantime, Carm went on Instagram and read off some information:
“I have the official release from Sports Complex Parking Venture. Here’s what it says in plain English – Starting Sunday October 4th, 2026, oversized vehicles will no longer be able to just choose where they park. Parking attendants will direct them to assigned oversized vehicle areas. The main oversized vehicle areas will be in Lot D, and the upper section of Lot N, near 7th and Pattison. If you already have an oversized vehicle prepaid pass, you get four parking spaces. You can buy two more spaces for a hundred dollars, giving you a total of six spaces. If you do not have an oversized prepaid parking pass, it is now gonna cost you $200 when you arrive. You will get four spaces, and another two if you want to spend the hundred dollars… Your vehicle, tents, equipment/etc must stay inside your spaces when you are assigned and paid for. Regular-sized cars and trucks, even if they are with your group, cannot park in the designated oversize vehicle area.”
Lot D is in the southwest corner. It’s the series of three lots between Xfinity Mobile Arena and I-95. Lot N is on the other side of Jetro, with O and M. That’s where the big tailgate vehicles are going to be directed, according to this sheet of paper that Carm is reading.
The feedback to the post we did on Friday was interesting, a mixed bag. Some folks decried this as a cash grab and an unnecessary attack on Eagles gameday traditions, while others think that the large tailgates are getting out of control and taking up too much room. Others pointed out that some of these groups are turning profits on what essentially amounts to a mobile catering operation.
Carm says he’s holding a press conference on Wednesday at the South Philly Boxing Gym on Jackson Street.
We don’t have a dog in the fight, and, honestly, I can see it from both sides here. If you have an established tailgate at a consistent spot and you’re doing what you’ve always done, then obviously you’re going to be annoyed by these changes. Is this a fix to a problem that doesn’t exist? Fair question, perhaps. But there was a good amount of feedback saying that it’s turned into a bit of a free-for-all down there with random vehicles going into random lots, and people taking up too much space and not being considerate of other fans trying to park or set up their own, smaller tailgates.
Maybe this ends up being a situation where the changes go into effect on October 4th, they see how it goes for a few weeks, and then adjust from there. Maybe there’s a middle ground or compromise of sorts, but the new rules are going to be in place for the Rams game and we’ll see if things go smoothly, or end up being a cluster.
