Jernigan has been on the shelf since undergoing back surgery in May.
The Birds now have three weeks to get him on the active roster.
From the team website:
Jernigan, who is on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, can participate in practice for the next 21 days. The Eagles can place Jernigan on the 53-player active roster at any point during this three-week window. At its conclusion, the Eagles have to either put Jernigan on the active roster or he stays on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list for the remainder of the season.
