Oh what the fuck? Last night, I watched my first ever live soccer match (a thoroughly enjoyable experience) after seeing the Phillies (on TV) win a wild one against the Padres. A nice little Saturday, actually. All that was missing was some Home Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond.

What do I wake up to today? Tweets about Howard Eskin tossing Brett Favre's name into the NBC night [watch Howard's report after the jump].

Immediately this morning, beat writers fired back, saying it's unlikely Favre becomes an Eagle… but no one really denied the team's interest. Tim McManus has it covered: [Philly Sports Daily]

Possible, maybe, but indications coming into Philly Sports Daily are that a union between the Eagles and Favre is unlikely.

That didn't stop Michael Vick from chiming in:

Oh no. Are we really going to have to deal with this? Favre's brother earlier said there was less than a 1% chance Brett would return.

From a football standpoint, this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. With the high-likelihood of Kevin Kolb being shipped out of town when free agency begins next Saturday, it would be nice to see an adequate backup – not Mike Kafka – for Vick. But do we really want to deal with this discussion all month? I can just see it now: Ed Werder camping outside the NovaCare Complex, eagerly awaiting Favre’s arrival, as a helicopter hovers above Andy Reid's three-Tahoe motorcade from Philadelphia International. Fuck.

Eskin's report… after the jump.
