Bryce Huff, You are a Philadelphia Eagle

Now we’re cooking:
Jets free-agent DE Bryce Huff is signing a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles once free agency opens, per sources. The deal will make Huff the highest-paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history, per sources. pic.twitter.com/EkPiFlRss0

Huff turns 26 next month. He was undrafted out of Memphis, where he was a two-time all-conference performer in 2018 and 2019. He fought his way into the Jets’ lineup and played 37 games over his first three seasons, then enjoyed a breakout year in 2023 with a career-high 17 games, 10 sacks, 29 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 21 QB hits.
He’s a bit of a late bloomer/recent breakout but the analytics guys love his pass rush win rate. Huff wasn’t fantastic in the run game, which is why the Jets didn’t use him as much as they could have or should have. It’s the advanced numbers that really pop for him:
Bryce Huff:
– 67 pressures on only 334 pass rush snaps
– 86.8 pass-rush grade (highest on Jets)
– 22.9 pass-rush win % (best in NFL)
– 10 sacks, 21 QB hits
– Only 25 years oldThis is a steal at $51.1 million. Great signing by Howie. pic.twitter.com/ZBJV6PzAgW

The Birds will presumably continue to shop both Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick. They’ve got Nolan Smith entering his sophomore season while Brandon Graham embarks upon his own KISS-type of retirement tour. That’s about it in the edge rusher department, as of 3/11/24.
