Cam Jurgens Looks Like the Real Deal

Just realized we did nothing on the Eagles/Browns game, so here’s a clip of Cam Jurgens plastering a guy:

Looks like I was wrong about Cam Jurgens, sort of. I didn’t like the pick because I’ve never heard of anybody  stashing a center before. They drafted a guy in the second round who was going to sit behind Jason Kelce for a year, and second round draft picks don’t sit unless they’re quarterbacks.

That doesn’t necessarily make it an ANTI-JURGENS take, because the offensive line experts really liked the guy, and he seemed like a solid player, but you’re always looking to maximize your value with those early-round picks. If Sam Williams, or Cam Taylor-Britt, or Bryan Cook or Drake Jackson end up being studs, then you’re asking yourself about landing one of those guys vs. drafting Jason Kelce’s replacement a year ahead of time, especially when you’re already stocked with good talent on the interior. People will point to the fact that Kelce is injured now as justification for this pick, but Jason’s expected to be back for week 1, so even though Jurgens looks great as of 8/22/22, he still may not play a single snap this season.

There’s gonna be an overlap year here, assuming Kelce does retire after this campaign, but Baldy is right. They’re set at center for the foreseeable future. You feel very good about what they’ve got at this position until next decade at the very least, which seems crazy to say, but Jurgens really does look the part so far.
