Can the Eagles Offense Do Anything in London Without WR1, RB1, RB2, RT1, LG1, and C1?

Alright, let’s get it back to the Eagles with this:

We’ll update when the injury report goes official, but the Eagles look they’re going to be without Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown, and Drew Kendall. Lane Johnson retired and Cam Jurgens was traded, both this week. Fred Johnson was limited on Thursday, so rookie Markel Bell may have to start again. Dontayvion Wicks picked up a hamstring issue on Wednesday and Dallas Goedert was listed as limited.

This is just the offensive side of the ball, by the way. The defensive injury list includes Marcus Epps, Jonathan Greenard, Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, and Quinyon Mitchell, though Q was a full participant on Thursday.

Sunday’s line is currently Jaguars -7.5, which opened as Jags -7 earlier in the week. This could be a game we ignore entirely and turn to online casinos and online slots instead. The Eagles team total is 17.5 at Kalshi and Polymarket, with a probability of clearing that number currently hovering around 40%.

That split feels fair because you wonder where the offense is coming from. Jalen Hurts doesn’t have his top receiver and running back. Goedert missed out last week and might not be fully healthy. He doesn’t even have his second-best running back. Darius Cooper looked good in the red zone last weekend, but doesn’t get a lot of targets between the 20s. Wicks’ status is unclear.

Whenever you preview a game, you think to yourself, “if the Eagles win, what’s that going to look like?” And typically in the past you would say that they play great defense while running the ball, limiting turnovers, and hitting 4-5 big plays in the passing game while Jalen does some things with his feet. But I can’t answer that question this weekend. If the Birds get the job done it will probably be a sloppy game like Los Angeles, where the defense plays well and the banged-up O makes just enough plays to win. They almost did it last week and maybe they’ll be in position to do it again this week.

What’s your level of belief?
