Daniel Jones Didn’t Like Being Benched as Malik Nabers Tells Media He Was Open

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants pulled starting quarterback Daniel Jones early in the fourth quarter to “create a spark,” coach Brian Daboll said after a 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium.
Daboll said Jones will remain his starting quarterback ahead of Drew Lock, who also didn’t have much success Sunday.
…
“We made a change in the fourth quarter when it was 28-3 — we had 100 yards — just to create a spark,” Daboll said. “Daniel will be the quarterback going forward.”
Said Jones of the move: “I was frustrated. Didn’t like it, obviously.”
Yeah, well, if you don’t want to be benched, maybe don’t stink up the joint. You were sacked seven times by a team that came into the game with 12 in the previous five games. You held on to the ball so long that Bryce Huff was able to get home. You were sacked twice by Nakobe Dean, who is a linebacker. You completed 14 of your 21 attempts for just 99 yards, which averages out to 4.7 yards per attempt. Saquon Barkley had more yards per attempt, and he’s a running back.
Funny thing is that Malik Nabers threw Jones under the bus after the game:
Malik Nabers was asked if the Eagles’ defense did anything differently in the first half that he hadn’t seen on film:

Was he open? We’ll get the all-22 guys on the film to take a look. It’s possible Nabers was clamped up by Big Play Slay and Quinyon Mitchell, who looks like a great draft pick. Seriously. He laid the wood a couple of times in the game. Nice to see a corner who can cover but also likes to hit as well.
Godspeed to the Giants fans in the region. It’s a mess up there. And go Birds.
