Deflategate, Part 2: Marshmallows

Chris mentioned this in the morning roundup but I’m just getting around to it now.
Apparently Eagles sideline reporter and WIP weekend morning host Howard Eskin discovered a DEFLATED FOOTBALL during last night’s preseason game.
Howard explained what he saw on Twitter:
During #Eagles #steelers pre season game their was at least one Pittsburgh football found that was VERY deflated . The #NFL has the Football and is investigating. I saw the FB after incompletion and it was like a marshmallow. @SportsRadioWIP

Hmm… interesting. Surely the dirty Steelers were not trying to cheat in a preseason game, yeah?
He added more details in response to a story written by SteelersDepot.com:
To follow up the question in this story of my report, the FB was discovered in 3rd Qt with Mason Rudolph at QB. Report: Deflated Football Used By Steelers Being Investigated By NFL – https://t.co/OCxFpcCrzE

This was enough to get the NFL involved, and Howard circled back around for a third time to explain that he did not think this was intentional:
I’ve now been told there have been defective FBs this pre season and although i clearly saw deflated FB i now believe it was not intentional and trust #NFL release. @SportsRadioWIP Deflated football found in Steelers-Eagles game – https://t.co/9wlkNIv3Mb https://t.co/4Hl7rEcB2l

Howard linked the NFL home page and not the specific story, but here’s what the league had to say about it:
“All footballs were in compliance with NFL rules following the pregame inspection process and all proper procedures were followed,” NFL vice president of football communications Michael Signora said in a statement. “In the third quarter, a football that was found to be defective was removed from play, will be sent back to Wilson for review.”
Alright then, just a defective football. False alarm.
Time’s yours.
