Derrick Gunn Says There are a Lot of People in the Eagles Organization “Frustrated with the Quarterback Situation”

Oh boy! This is from the Eagles postgame show featuring Derrick Gunn, Marc Farzetta, and Seth Joyner:
Now this is an interesting one because Derrick Gunn is one of the most respected voices ever in Philadelphia Eagles media. Before he was let go by NBC Sports Philly, he was the guy you would listen to when you wanted to know what was going on inside the locker room. If this was some sports radio talking head saying this, we could just chalk it up to bullshit trying to drive calls, but Gunner has never been one to peddle that kind of stuff during his legendary career. So when he says a lot of people are frustrated in the Eagles organization and calls it a Carson Wentz: Part 2 situation you have to at least be a little curious as to what is going on behind the scenes.
But man we’re 8-2. Wins over the Bucs, Rams, Chiefs, and Lions. Number one in the NFC. Why does it feel like the sky is falling? How long until the Jeff McLane piece where his sources are telling him that this Eagles team is the most miserable 13-2 team ever? If I had to speculate, I have to believe some of this is true. Again, remember the person it’s coming from. Do I think there are people in the organization frustrated with Jalen Hurts? Absolutely. Do I think they’d move him if his cap hit wasn’t so high? I don’t think so. We’re talking again about a guy who seven months ago won Super Bowl MVP. Howie Roseman ain’t that crazy. He already took on the largest dead cap hit in history at the time when he traded Wentz. Is he crazy enough to do that again? I think before you discount this report, you have to wonder what kind of frustrations we’re talking about. That’s where these reports get muddied. I don’t expect 53 guys to like each other. Especially when the defense is standing on their head and the offense isn’t contributing at all. There are going to be guys frustrated. But is it something they can’t overcome? Doesn’t seem like it. This isn’t 2023 because I don’t think the veteran leaders would let this team fracture like that, but again you gotta be curious to wonder what the locker room is like right now. At least guys didn’t seem to upset after this win, according to AJ Brown:
One of the differences between Wentz and Hurts is that Carson got injured his second season in the league and never fully recovered physically or mentally. Hurts has been healthy for most of his career so if it’s a mechanics or decision making issue that people in the organization are annoyed about maybe you can chalk that up to never having the same offensive coordinator for multiple years in a row. If it’s a personality issue, I have no idea. The reports about Wentz in the locker room have been confirmed over the years in a multitude of ways through stories from players that were there. Though he wasn’t the best teammate all the time, he most definitely wasn’t the worst either. The one thing that separates both QBs entirely is success when it matters. You get a longer leash in this league when you win trophies and Hurts has a cabinet full of banners and trophies in only his fifth year starting. This isn’t going away though. We’ve had Gunner’s and Dianna Russini’s reports this weekend both come out of the Eagles organization. Two reports that are similar in nature. It’s only a matter of time to see how sturdy the foundation is if the Eagles hit a skid at any point this season.
