DeVonta Smith Thinks Love Island is a “Dumbass” Show

Very important news here:

We do have a Crossing Broad staffer who watches Love Island, which is apparently the hottest thing going in trash television. We won’t out this person though. They can decide to out themselves if/when the time is right.

Meantime, I asked my wife if she watches Love Island, and she gave me a one-word answer, “no.” Seems like she’s loyal to her typical trash, like Below Deck, Real Housewives, Summer House, Southern Charm, and Vanderpump Rules, which apparently is no longer a thing. All of the Vanderpump cast got old and had kids and/or moved to the suburbs (?) and they created a spin-off show called The Valley.

Love Island is a combination reality and dating show, based on the British series of the same name. Couldn’t tell you much more beyond that, which begs the question, why am I the one writing this blog post anyway? We’ve got freelancers in their 20s who should be writing this. Pagan should be writing this. I’m closer to Gen X than Gen Z. These kids don’t want to work anymore!

DeVonta points out that the only reason he watches Love Island is because his fiance makes him watch it, which is the same reason why most men in the 35-45 age range can tell you what “Tom Tom” means. You’re basically just laying around and scrolling on your phone while your girlfriend, fiance, or wife is completely dialed in to this shit. Then you absorb all of trash osmotically and eventually fall asleep halfway through Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. He’s a hardcore St. Louis Cardinals fan, by the way, which is annoying. Still bothered by the 2011 NLDS. The Phillies made 36-year-old Chris Carpenter look like prime Nolan Ryan out there.
