Did Chip Kelly Do Something Unconventional Today?

You’re goddamn right he did.
Somehow missed this late Friday afternoon, but a headline on NFL.com today breathed new life into this quote from Eagles seventh-round pick Beu Allen in Tim McManus’ story about pre-draft visits:
“I was sitting and waiting to go in and meet with [Howie Roseman] and all the front office guys, and Coach Kelly was driving around a little remote control car –they use it out on the field because they can’t do motions — and he drove it right into me and was like, ‘Oh, hey Beau, how are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘Hey, Coach.’ ”
The car was used to skirt “Phase One” workout rules. Phase One is the stage of offseason workouts where only strength and conditioning coaches are allowed to be present on the field during practice. So Kelly, in an effort to create a man-in-motion scenario for the defense, used a remote control car, which sped behind the line of scrimmage and cued the defense to shift.
I am in love with this man.
