Don’t Worry, Eagles Fans — You’re Allowed to Blame More Than One Thing

This fan base can’t decide what to blame most. Is it the quarterback? Is it the injuries? Is it the coaching? Is it the front office?
I’ve noticed over the last few years — spanning all the professional teams in this city — that some people just can’t focus on more than one aspect of a team’s struggles at a time. And, ultimately, that’s completely unfair. But how entertaining is it to blame everyone? Not very much. So, pick a lane and stick to it (for now). One week it’s one thing. The next week, it’s another.
But the thing is, in one game, or multiple games, it can be both!
It’s no secret the Eagles are not at full strength, and that’s the biggest issue. But the coaching we were told would totally revamp the Eagles’ offense has not been seen when they were healthy. Nick Sirianni has continued his questionable decision-making, addressing it simply by saying he needs to be better. You’d think maybe in 2026, he’d be better. But perhaps his decision-making would be made easier if the players could execute the plays that are called. But, it’s difficult to do that when the defense knows exactly what’s coming because the offense continues to be vanilla with zero creativity. Maybe better players could execute these vanilla plays.
We all love Howie Roseman — with good reason — but his swings and misses have been glaringly obvious the last two offseasons. Understandably, though, a team can’t keep all of their good players. That’s when a general manager that has gone from a zero to hero in Philly needs to get creative. And that just hasn’t happened. Eli Stowers? Johnny Mundt? Andy Dalton? Praying for an older offensive line to stay healthy and perform to their Pro Bowl level a year after being decimated by injuries? It’s just poor planning.
If the coaching was elite, then the swings and misses wouldn’t be as daunting. But despite his record since becoming head coach, Sirianni has not been some sage.
Some of us expected this kind of season at some point. Can’t stay on top of the mountain forever. We’ve been through this at least three times since the Andy Reid era. The one constant remains Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman, who have shown us they have the ability to wade through these muddy waters. The thing that sucks is we’ll have to wait until the offseason to see a roster — and possibly coaching — overhaul. You don’t need All-22 film to understand it’s not just one facet of the team.
