Dontayvion Wicks Over 27.5 Receiving Yards is Getting Some Week 1 Love

One of the interesting Week 1 Eagles storylines is the receiving corps.
DeVonta Smith is WR1 in the post-A.J. Brown era. Makai Lemon was expected to be WR2, but battled a hamstring injury in camp and got off to a slowish start.
Enter Dontayvion Wicks, who had a good preseason, according to the beat writers. He’s getting a lot of love at BetMGM to clear his total against the Commanders:

Wicks hit this number in 5 of 14 games last season for the Packers. He was WR 3 or 4 for Green Bay, logging 46 targets and finishing behind Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson while Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden, and Josh Jacobs all received 44 targets each. It was clumpy in the middle for the Pack, and the thought is that Wicks separated himself a bit from the group of Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, and Darius Cooper while Lemon might need a game or two to get settled.
Taking a look at the prediction market offerings, the prices are similar to what you’ll find at the books. If we use a Kalshi promo code and look at Eagles props, Wicks to hit 15 yards is priced at 66% and 25 yards is 59%. Smitty is given a 50% chance to hit at least 70 yards.
Putting a unit or two on Wicks feels like a good play. Somebody has to be WR2 behind DeVonta Smith. Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley will get their targets, but there is usually enough for 5-6 targets for everyone else. If Wicks catches two of those, he likely clears his total. The passing volume will depend on whether or not the Eagles’ run game resembles 2024 or 2025.
