Jordan Howard is cleared for contact after missing six straight games with a shoulder stinger.

Doug Pederson confirmed that at Friday’s press conference, saying this about working his downhill ball carrier back into the mix:

“The challenge is that we’ve been planning with Miles (Sanders) and Boston (Scott). Jordan gives us obviously a third back, a situational guy, and we understand who he is. But we mentioned the conditioning and the game shape and being ready and all that, so you can’t just give him a full complement of plays. And we don’t want to necessarily disrupt what we’ve got going, but he is a big piece obviously to our offense.”

Pederson described Howard’s level of ‘strength’ as good, though admitted it’s probably not where the running back wants it to be.

As for Zach Ertz, who has a combination rib and back injury limiting him right now, the head ball coach said this:

“You guys saw the hit last week and we want to be as transparent as we can with the reports. He’s dealing with the rib and the back as well. The biggest thing is just making sure he feels good. I think having gone through this myself personally, this type of injury, its discomforting, so you want to make sure he’s 100% before putting him back out there again.”

Ertz will be out there today when the Eagles practice at Lincoln Financial Field, moving over from NovaCare because the fields are little hard, according to Pederson.

“He’ll be with the team, but at the same time we want to make sure he’s getting all the treatment, too,” Pederson added. “There will be portions when he’s inside getting treatment.”

As for Lane Johnson, Doug didn’t have much to say. They’ll see where he’s at today and then make a determination if he’s good enough to practice on the bum ankle that kept him out last week.
