Eagles Might Be Down to RB6 and RB7 on Sunday Night Football
Eagles running back update:
They play the Commies in Washington on Sunday Night Football.
To review:
- RB1 Saquon Barkley (DNP Thursday hamstring/back)
- RB2 Tank Bigsby (IR)
- RB3 Will Shipley (IR)
- RB4 Dameon Pierce (IR)
- RB5 Carson Steele (waived/injured)
If Saquon can’t play this weekend, they’re down to RB6 in Elijah Mitchell and RB7 in Jaydon Blue, who got some burn in the Cowboys’ preseason before winding up on the Eagles’ practice squad.
It’s always interesting/sad to check out the fantasy projections for these guys each week, as we do the Eagles injury roulette. Elijah Mitchell is projected to go for 4.2 points. He caught three passes in garbage time against Dallas in addition to running three times for 11 yards, so he got something like 3 to 4.5 points, depending if you play PPR or half-point PPR. Blue, meantime, doesn’t even have a projection listed, though he did run the ball 15 times for 75 yards in the preseason game against the Cardinals.
Mitchell had the one really good year in San Francisco, running for almost 963 yards on 204 attempts. Christian McCaffrey was still a Panther back then. Mitchell had a decreased role in 2022 and 2023 and injured his hamstring in 2024. He was on the Patriots practice squad in 2025 and then made his way to Philly.
