Stout deciding to drop this one in the middle of dinner:

Stoutland is probably the best and most important position coach the Eagles have ever had. That’s not a hot take or even a difficult choice, because he was one of one. He was here for three Super Bowl appearances, winning twice, and was offensive line coach and run game coordinator for Saquon Barkley’s historic 2000-year season. His tenure spanned three head coaches and he’s probably an Eagles Hall of Famer.

Stout coached the following Pro Bowl linemen during his tenure:

  • Jason Kelce
  • Lane Johnson
  • Jordan Mailata (basically developed the guy from scratch)
  • Landon Dickerson
  • Brandon Brooks
  • Jason Peters
  • Evan Mathis
  • Cam Jurgens

He also coached a handful of really solid guys who didn’t get Pro Bowl nods, like Stef Wisniewski, Big V, Mekhi Becton, Isaac Seumalo, and Todd Herremans. Dennis Kelly went on to start five seasons for the Titans and there really were very few players who didn’t pan out. Guys like Andre Dillard were extreme outliers under Stout.

Mike Garafolo tweeted this out:

The plan is for Jeff Stoutland to have some sort of involvement with the #Eagles’ organization. But he will absolutely have other teams checking in with him immediately. They’ve smelled blood in the water for quite some time and are interested in him.

And here’s an Eagles statement:

Will update the story if more information comes out, but for now Stoutland University is shutting down. It’s been a great run. We’ll have to enroll these guys in another program, maybe Temple: Ambler.
