Eagles Reach BEEFY Contract Extension with Dallas Goedert

After the Zach Ertz trade, this was inevitable:

That is a pretty hefty contract extension for a guy who has shown some flashes but is hardly anywhere close to a Tier 1 tight end, right now. Goedert is on pace for a career high in yards this season (17th game notwithstanding), and will likely finish with career best yard-per-catch and catch % numbers, but has only caught two touchdown passes as the Birds have begun to ground and pound their way into the end zone.
Regardless, with Goedert becoming TE1 in Zach Ertz’s absence, he assumes more work load as “the guy” moving forward, which will allow him to play to the level of his contract.
For a little bit of context here, this is the current crop of tight end salaries, organized by AG/YR:
Dallas Goedert “secured the bag,” as the kids like to say.
